EARTH WIND WATER Civil Engineering is very pleased to have been chosen to work with well-known Architect Allan Teta and Landscape Architect Brian Grove on a complex project in Del Mar, CA. The project is taking a “ranch style” home on a large lot and renovating almost the entire site. There will be challenges in the Architecture for sure. It will be necessary for EARTH WIND WATER and the Landscape Architect to work very closely on elements of the site design. With extensive retaining walls, and a large amount terrain to deal with, the site development plans could be challenging.
EARTH WIND WATER and Brian Grove have worked together on numerous large custom home projects over the past year or so. We enjoy working with Brian because he is highly creative and is a great collaborator. One challenge we face on this kind of project today is the planning of site areas for water quality treatment. It requires that the site engineering place large places on the site where storm water can be stilled and percolate through a special soil media to remove pollutants. Because this can often limit the plant palette, it is critical that the site engineer and landscape architect collaborate early and often.
